A passenger train on the Ironton Railroad brought people to and from work on its 11 mile circle through the Lehigh Valley at the turn of the century. It stopped in 1923 with the advent of trolley cars.

The Hotel Wahnetah, built in 1885 for tourists visiting Glen Onoko near Jim Thorpe in 'The Switzerland of American.' It had no access by road, only by train on the Lehigh Valley Railroad. The structure burned down in 1911.
